LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST

Julie has always had a passion for helping people transition out of pain.  In 1996 she earned a bachelors degree in sociology and social work and went to work with youth and families in crisis.

As the stress and physical pain from hours of working behind a computer started to accumulate, a friend suggested that she get a massage at a local clinic.  At first she didn’t take the suggestion seriously, thinking that she didn’t have time for that kind of pampering. Julie had received spa massages before and as much as she enjoyed the relaxing experience she didn't really think that it would help her pain at all.  With a little more encouragement she finally gave in and after a couple of sessions, she was completely convinced!  Her pain had drastically improved and she had learned so much from the massage therapist about how her body mechanics and repetitive habits could be changed to ease her pain.  And so, after 10 years of working as a social worker, Julie started to envision a new way of working with people in pain.

In 2006 she enrolled in massage school at Hands on Approach in Dallas TX.  She graduated the following year and went to work in wellness centers working closely with chiropractors.  She has received additional training in various deep tissue techniques, myofascial release, trigger point, structural analysis, and in 2014 craniosacral therapy through the Upledger Institute.

With over 15 years of experience as a massage therapist, Julie has developed a unique style of working with her clients that offers personalized support and encouragement.  She believes that the mind/body connection is very important in easing physical pain and achieving real change.  Julie strives to help clients understand what behaviors and patterns of repetitive movement may have contributed to the creation of the problem/pain.   She helps her clients to value and understand the effort and compensations that their body has made to adapt and continue to perform under stress and strain and then to make the changes necessary to support the body in functioning properly .

Whether you're looking to alleviate chronic pain, anxiety, pre or post surgical issues,  trying to avoid surgery, improve performance or even just relax, Julie is excited to partner with you to create  change!
